Kenya has taxed lottery and prize-competition winnings at 15% withholding under the Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Act, and betting winnings at 20%. The Finance Act 2025 scrapped withholding on betting and gaming winnings in favour of a 5% excise on wallet withdrawals, and the 2026 Finance Bill proposes reinstating a 20% winnings tax — the regime is in flux, so verify the current position with a local adviser.
