Every New Zealand game on this site, ranked by top-prize odds, with the tax rules and the regulator. All odds derived from the published rules.
| Game | Top-prize odds | Any-prize odds | Ticket | Cost per unit of jackpot chance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strike (New Zealand) | 1 in 2,193,360 | — | NZ$1.00 | 2,193,360 NZD |
| Lotto (New Zealand) | 1 in 3,838,380 | 1 in 29.92 | NZ$0.70 | 2,686,866 NZD |
| Powerball (New Zealand) | 1 in 38,383,800 | 1 in 299 | NZ$1.50 | 57,575,700 NZD |
Shorter odds are not automatically better value — shorter-odds games pay smaller top prizes. Cost per unit of chance (price × odds) is the cleanest single comparison.
Lotto NZ prizes (Lotto, Powerball, Strike) are completely tax-free — no tax is withheld and winnings are not declared as income to Inland Revenue. Interest and investment income earned on the prize afterwards is taxable as usual.
Winners have the right to remain anonymous; Lotto NZ never publishes names without consent.
