Canada
Canadian lottery prizes are tax-free, including the lifetime annuity payments.
Lottery winnings are treated as windfalls and are not taxable income in Canada — the CRA lists lottery prizes among amounts that are not taxed. Investment income earned on the prize afterwards is taxable in the normal way. US-draw prizes won by Canadians may still face US withholding.
Provincial lottery corporations generally require winner publicity (name and photo) as a condition of payout, with narrow exceptions.
Typically 12 months from the draw date for national games (e.g. Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max).
Regulator: Provincial gaming regulators (e.g. AGCO in Ontario); national games run by Interprovincial Lottery Corporation — official site
