Neil Trotter, a 41-year-old car mechanic and amateur racing driver from Coulsdon in south London, won £107,932,603.20 in the EuroMillions draw of Friday 14 March 2014. He had bought £10 of Lucky Dip lines — five tickets — from his usual newsagent on the way to work that morning, saying he had a strong feeling he would win. Before the draw he told his secretary and staff at his father's office that by "this time tomorrow" he would be a multi-millionaire and would retire. He ran a repair garage, Chameleon Coachworks, in Mitcham. His father's first reaction to the news was: "What have you been drinking?" The win made him the UK National Lottery's fourth-biggest winner at the time. Trotter went public on 18 March 2014 alongside his partner of eight years, Nicky Ottaway, saying he did not want to "be deceitful to all my friends" by staying anonymous. Both gave up work, and he said he planned to buy a country property with land for horses and to pursue motor racing, a long-standing passion.
In comments reported in 2022 and recirculated in December 2024, Trotter said he no longer works as a mechanic, lives in a house on a 500-acre estate with lakes, has bought properties for family members, owns a 2014 McLaren 650S Spider, and has returned to motor racing. He told ITV's British Touring Car Championship coverage that touring cars remained his passion.
