Adrian and Gillian Bayford of Haverhill, Suffolk, won GBP 148,656,000 - EUR 190 million - as the only winners of the EuroMillions draw on Friday 10 August 2012, after the jackpot had rolled over 14 times. Adrian, then 41, ran a second-hand music shop on Haverhill High Street; Gillian, then 40, had worked on a hospital children's ward. He bought the winning Lucky Dip at a Premier convenience store in the town and checked it after the draw, having told his wife he thought they had forgotten to buy a ticket. At the press conference they said they would take their two children and their parents to Disneyland, help family and friends, and look at supporting children's charities, and Adrian said he intended to go back behind his shop counter. The marriage did not survive the money: the couple separated about 15 months after the win and divorced, dividing the prize. Gillian later said the roughly GBP 20 million she gave to relatives caused a lasting family rift. Their Grade II listed Cambridgeshire estate was sold in 2021.
As of 2025 Adrian Bayford was reported to have left his seven-bedroom estate near the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire border for a nearby cottage and to be engaged to Tracey Biles; Gillian Bayford runs a property business near Dundee (2024).
