New Zealand: the rules

Lotto NZ prizes (Lotto, Powerball, Strike) are completely tax-free — no tax is withheld and winnings are not declared as income to Inland Revenue. Interest and investment income earned on the prize afterwards is taxable as usual.

Can you stay anonymous?

Winners have the right to remain anonymous; Lotto NZ never publishes names without consent.

How long you have to claim

12 months from the draw date.
