Wolverine FLL Club

A four-member lottery club calling itself the Wolverine FLL Club held the only ticket matching 04-26-42-50-60 and Mega Ball 24 in the 22 January 2021 Mega Millions draw, an advertised $1.05 billion. It was the largest prize ever won in Michigan and, at the time, the third largest in US history. The ticket was bought at a Kroger at 47650 Grand River Avenue in Novi, in Oakland County. The club's representative said a member had seen a sign that the jackpot had passed $1 billion, remembered the club had not bought its tickets, and pulled into the store. The prize was claimed on 12 March 2021, and the club took a one-time lump sum of about $776 million rather than the annuity; after 24 per cent federal withholding of roughly $186 million and 4.25 per cent Michigan withholding of roughly $33 million, it received about $557 million. Kroger received a $50,000 selling bonus and donated it to the Food Bank Council of Michigan.

(2021) The four members were never publicly named. The prize was claimed through club representative and attorney Kurt D. Panouses, who said the money would "impact the families of our club members for generations" and that the club intended to "stay humble and pay it forward through charitable giving in southeast Michigan." No member has since been publicly identified.
